Angel Tree Program FAQ
The Angel Tree program provides assistance to needy families
during the Christmas season. We collect gifts to distribute to
families who would otherwise not have any gifts to share.​

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Angel Tree Program is now underway!
Please visit the Angel Tree in the Narthex starting November 1st to choose an Angel.We aim to provide Christmas Hampers to families in need, and we kindly ask for donations of gifts or gift cards for children, valued between $25 and $30.
We encourage purchasing Superstore (PC) gift cards from the Knights of Columbus.
Please ensure that all donations are placed under the tree by December 7th. If you have cash donations or gift cards, you can deposit them in the donation box in the Narthex

Angel Tree Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How Does it work?
1). SSVP receives confidential profiles of children and families in need from our Schools and Parish area
2). Choose one of the Angels of the Angel Tree in the Narthex between November 1st and December 7th.
The Angel you pick represents a profile for 3 types of donations:
a). Pink - Christmas gift for a girl.
b). Blue - Christmas gift for a boy.
c). Yellow - Grocery gift card donation for a family.
3). Return your gift or gift card donation by TBD.

Is there a suggested donation amount?

Any donation is very generous. We suggest the gift card amount be $25-$30 for an Angel Gift. Tax receipts are provided for $20 or more.

What type of gift cards should I purchase?
​
It is best to purchase gift cards from stores where people can buy a variety of items such as treats, toys, clothing, and groceries.
We highly recommend PC ( Presidents Choice - Superstore) gift cards as the best and most flexible choice.
We have also received gift cards for Winners, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Toys ‘R’ Us, Sport Chek and The Gap.

The Knights of Columbus sell gift cards in the Narthex after every weekend mass. If you buy the gift card you intend to donate from the Knights of Columbus you are helping the Knights, Ascension Parish and SSVP all at once.

For 2025 our Match Donor is back and will match up to $10,000 in Donations made to Ascension SSVP by Dec 15

Is a grocery gift card a good choice?​
Yes, we provide each family with a PC grocery gift card so they may purchase their own Christmas dinner.

Should I enclose a Christmas card or personal note? Should I sign my gift?
​
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society includes a Christmas card with each hamper. Please do not enclose an additional card, nor a signature, .

Where and when should I return my Angel Tree gift card?
Please return your donation no later than Dec 7th
​
Unwrapped Gifts
Drop off at the Parish Office or place your gift under the Angel Tree in the Narthex.

Gift card and financial donations.
​
Enclose your gift card or cash donation in an envelope marked Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, include your name and address if you wish to receive an Income Tax receipt.
Place your donation into the donation box on the SSVP donation bin in the Narthex.
For Security purposes, Please Do Not place cash or gift cards on or under the Angel tree.
